7 Ways to Get Your Home Loan Approved Faster

A home loan approval comes down to how confident the bank is that you'll repay. These seven steps make you a stronger applicant and speed up the whole process.

1. Know and improve your CIBIL score

Most lenders look for 750+. Clear small overdue balances, avoid maxing out credit cards, and don't apply to many lenders at once (each hard enquiry can nudge your score down).

2. Keep your documents ready

ID & address proof, PAN, salary slips or ITRs, bank statements (6–12 months), and property papers. A complete, well-organised file avoids back-and-forth delays.

3. Maintain a healthy income-to-EMI ratio

Lenders prefer your total EMIs to stay under ~40–50% of your income. Closing a small existing loan can meaningfully improve your eligibility.

4. Choose the right lender for your profile

Different banks favour different borrowers — salaried, self-employed, or business owners. Applying to the right lender first avoids rejections that hurt your score.

5. Add a co-applicant

Adding an earning spouse or family member as co-applicant can increase your eligible loan amount and improve approval odds.

6. Make a larger down payment

A higher down payment lowers the loan-to-value ratio, reduces the bank's risk, and often gets you a better interest rate.

7. Get the property papers verified

Banks reject loans when a property's title or approvals aren't clear. Verifying the paperwork before you apply keeps the approval on track.
